If you’re a mom trying to prioritize your faith, health, and a low-tox lifestyle, mornings can feel chaotic before they even begin.
For a long time I woke up already feeling behind. But once I created a simple, grounding morning rhythm, my entire day started to feel calmer and more intentional.
This routine isn’t complicated. It’s realistic for motherhood and focused on three things that matter most to me: faith, nourishment, and starting the day peacefully.
Here’s what my simple morning routine as a faith-filled, low-tox mom looks like.
5:00 AM – Wake Up Before the House Is Busy
Waking up before the rest of the house has been the biggest game changer for my mornings.
That quiet time allows me to start the day intentionally instead of reacting to everything around me.
I keep things simple:
• No scrolling
• No emails
• No noise
Sometimes this is the only quiet moment I get in a day and so I soak in every minute.
5:05 AM – Protein Coffee
First thing after waking up, I make my protein coffee. As someone who used to be terribly addicted to my local coffee shop’s iced vanilla latte, making coffee at home had to be simple and delicious.
This has become one of my favorite low-tox habits because it helps:
• Support steady energy
• Prevent the mid-morning crash
• Keep me full longer
My simple version is:
Protein Coffee
- Organic fresh brewed coffee
- Clean protein powder
- Vanilla Colostrum
- Whole or Raw Milk
Blending protein with coffee helps balance blood sugar and keeps me energized through the morning.
It’s one of the easiest wellness habits I’ve added to my routine.
5:10 AM – 5 Minutes in the Bible
One thing that helped me stay consistent with Bible reading was making it smaller and simpler.
Instead of trying to read for 30 minutes, I set a 5-minute timer.
That’s it.
Sometimes I read a Psalm.
Sometimes a Proverb.
Sometimes just a few verses.
But starting the day in the Word—even for five minutes—helps center my heart and mindset before the day begins.
Faith first. Everything else flows from there.
5:20 AM – Shower and Get Ready
Next, I hop in the shower and get ready for the day.
Keeping my routine minimal helps mornings stay calm. A quick shower, skincare, and getting dressed early makes me feel put together before the house wakes up.
This small habit helps the rest of the morning feel smoother.
Hot tip: set your clothes out the day before as another way to keep your routine flowing peacefully.
5:45 AM – Breakfast
After getting ready, I make one of my favorite simple breakfasts:
The Defined Dish Breakfast Sandwich
It’s quick, filling, and packed with protein to keep me full throughout the morning. Best thing is I can meal prep these and keep them in the freezer so they are ready to go.
A simple version includes:
• Eggs
• Breakfast sausage
• Bread or English muffin
• Cheese (optional)
I love starting the day with a warm, satisfying breakfast instead of skipping meals or grabbing something rushed later. Both my gut and my bank account benefit!

Why a Simple Morning Routine Matters
Motherhood doesn’t always allow for elaborate routines—and that’s okay.
A few intentional habits can make a big difference:
• Wake up before the rush
• Nourish your body
• Start with faith
• Keep things simple
This rhythm helps me feel grounded, energized, and present before the day begins.
And the best part? It’s flexible. Some mornings look different, but this structure helps guide my day with purpose.
